BSO stands for BAY STATE OPTICAL, a prominent American manufacturer of eyeglasses. Frames marked BSO are typically vintage or antique, often dating from the late 1800s through the mid-20th century.
Many BSO frames from the early-to-mid 1900s are made of gold-filled material, frequently stamped "1/10 12K GF" (meaning 10% of the weight of the metal components is 12 karat gold).
HKO or HRO are less common manufacturer marks, but they could refer to specific models, sizes, or other regional/smaller manufacturers. Without a full view of the mark or the glasses, a precise identification is difficult. Based on common vintage/antique marks, HKO/HRO may be initials for other smaller optical companies that are not as widely documented.
