This is a complete 144-tile early phenolic resin (Bakelite-era) set with all counting sticks, dice, wind indicator, dealer marker, and working case lock with key.
This style of lacquered export Mahjong set was produced in China during the Republic Period (1912–1949), and sets of this quality were typically sold through upscale department stores in Shanghai and Hong Kong. The interior still retains its original printed almanac lining, a signature feature of 1930s production.
