True Vintage wedding blanket Handira are getting more and more scarce, they come directly from Berber families in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains who painfully sell them to survive!
The exact age is unknown but it is believed to be anywhere between 30 and 50 plus years.
Moroccan wedding blankets (Handira) are a marriage celebration tradition that originated with the Berber tribes, they are meticulously handwoven out of sheeps wool, cotton and linen in anticipation of a wedding by the brides female relatives.
It can take hours, even weeks of work to attach metal mirrored sequins (which are authentic elements of Handira throws) once the weaving is complete.
These ornate pieces hold significant cultural meaning for the tribes.
